Lots of Help

Many people have stopped by to help. Local artist Martha Pfamschmidt stopped by with her boy friend and his 83 year old mother who spent a few hours helping to chalk.

Other local artists who Nancy knows also helped on Memorial Day including Sanny, Peter and Clair.

A young skater named Alex stayed for many hours. Driven by a burning desire to stop the war he chalked for hours. He took a wonderful video of blocks and blocks of names flying past his skateboard. I am hoping that he finds us and sends a copy of the video.

Many children have joined in including a Girl Scout troop and Park Rose Middle School students who blew off their tour of downtown to help.

Often a man or woman in business dress will stop long enough to fill in a letter or two. They have a desire to help, to be apart and to make a small sacrifice to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Many people who appear homeless have also joined in to chalk. Turtle is on a years long journey around the country and is currently in Portland. Joel got up out of his wheelchair to chalk, but his bad ankles kept him from standing and kneeling too long.
